Daniels attended Scotlandville Magnet High School, then an engineering-focused college-preparatory school. From the start, Daniels stood out from the other dancers. She was driven. She worked six days a week. She’d appear when the club opened, at 3:00 p.m., and stay until it closed, at 2:00 a.m. “She just carried herself and had this aura of being bigger than everyone,” Chuck Rolling, who managed the Gold Club at the time, told me.
