Our brains help us survive. They allow us to creatively solve problems, and by solving them, we live longer and have more children. Ultimately, most people want to have children because the instincts are so strong that at the species level, we’re still in the program. But it’s important to remember that human nature is a mix of instinct and cultural practices, and there will always be exceptions: people who don’t behave as they should. That’s what we can expect. We shouldn’t expect people to behave instinctively like ants.
